Cord strapping is made from high tenacity polyester yarn. It is available in three forms: woven, bonded, and composite. Woven cord strapping weaves the fibers together (like a seat belt or truck webbing). Bonded cord is manufactured by hot melt gluing fibers together. Composite cord has the fibers run straight, and encased in a poly coating. Cord is used in manual applications and is joined using buckles, seals, or tied. PET cord offers excellent resistance to moisture and is frequently used in outdoor applications. It can be preferred over steel strapping since the edges will not cut into the worker, or the package. Cord frequently replaces steel in lumber applications. Other common uses are agricultural (bracing of fruit trees), machine tie downs, and the boat industry.
